The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency has developed an online resource to help citizens reduce recycling contamination and find recycling options in their area.
MDC Weekly Yard Waste Pick Up
Included in the MDC monthly service fee is seasonal collection of yard waste materials (grass clippings, leaves, weeds, twigs, etc.). Dirt and sod are not accepted. Biodegradable brown paper bags are the preferred containers for yard waste; however, MDC will also collect yard waste from garbage cans that you supply that are clearly marked on the side (visible from 20ʼ) with a large “X” (use paint, duct tape or a similar durable material). Yard waste carts (95 gallon, similar to that provided for household waste) can be rented from MDC for a small monthly fee and eliminate the need to continually purchase the biodegradable bags. Yard waste pick up begins April 5, 2021.
Curbside Electronics Collection Availability
MDC Environmental Services will now pick up electronics curbside when arranged by the resident (excluding Sun City and apartments). There is a fee required but this gives residents an option if they do not wish to wait for Green & Clean Huntley day or do not want to haul it to a collection location / event.

Storage and Placement of Garbage Collection Containers Village Code
All rubbish, garbage and yard waste including any and all garbage, recycling and yard waste containers shall be kept out of sight in the interior of the garage or behind a fence or landscape screen so as to be obscured from the front of the residence until permitted time to place it at the curb for pick-up.
No garbage collection containers shall be placed curbside, adjacent street or sidewalk area of any residence sooner than 6 p.m. of the day preceding the regularly scheduled garbage pick-up collection day and any such containers shall be removed from the curbside, adjacent street or sidewalk area of the residence no later than 9 p.m. the day of the regularly scheduled garbage pick-up collection day.
At no time shall any garbage, recycling or yard waste collection container be placed upon any street or sidewalk so as to obstruct vehicular or pedestrian traffic.
