Business & Contractor Registration

Business Registration

All businesses in the Village of Huntley, including home-based businesses are required to be registered. All new businesses need to apply for a business registration. New business inspections with the Building Inspector or Building Official, Fire Marshal and Senior Planner must be scheduled and approved before a business registration will be issued. This includes transferring your business to a new Huntley location from a previous location in Huntley. Once the inspections have passed a business registration certificate will be issued to you. If you're applying for a building permit for alterations to your space your business registration will be issued after final permit inspections are approved.

The business registration fee for the first year is $25.00, and the annual renewal fee is $10.00. Licenses are valid from January 1 through December 31. Renewal notices are sent out in November and are due before the first of the year. Penalties may apply for late payments.

Additional forms for new businesses and permit fees can be obtained by contacting the Development Services Department.

Contractor Registration

Effective January 1, 2023 all general/primary contractors on a permit are required to be registered with the Village. The primary contractor must provide a copy of any applicable licenses for their sub-contractors. Sub-contractors working under a general or primary contractor will no longer need to provide insurance or pay a registration fee.
