All businesses in the Village of Huntley, including home-based businesses and vending machines are required to be registered. All new businesses need to apply for a business license and commercial businesses must also apply for an occupancy or building permit prior to any work being performed or equipment / materials being brought into the space. This includes transferring your business to a new Huntley location. Inspections with the Chief Building Official and Fire Marshal must be scheduled and approved before a certificate of occupancy and business license will be issued. The business registration fee for the first year is $25.00, and the annual renewal fee is $10.00. Licenses are valid from January 1st, through December 31st. Renewal notices are sent out in November and are due before the first of the year.

The contractor registration fee is $25.00 plus $10.00 per additional trade per contractor up to a maximum of $45.00. Example: The same contractor registering for both roofing and siding would be $35.00. Registrations expire annually on Dec 31st.Insurance:
A certificate of insurance with the Village of Huntley as the certificate holder is required for all contractors. The general aggregate must be a minimum of $600,000.00Bond Requirements:
Contractors performing work in the public right of way or easement must submit a surety bond for the value of $10,000.00 valid through the registration calendar year. A surety bond must also be on file for excavators, plumbers, sewer, drain layers and any other contractor that may potentially perform work as stated above.
Any trade requiring Illinois or local licensure must provide a copy of that license. This includes plumbers, electricians, roofers, irrigation companies, security and fire protection companies. Plumbers must provide both their 055 and 058 license and submit a letter of intent for each project.
