Sun City Improvements: Road Construction & Streetlight Repainting
Road Construction
Starting Tuesday, August 15, 2023 work will begin in Sun City to reconstruct the existing Del Webb Blvd concrete pavement located on the outbound side of the roadway connecting Del Webb Blvd to Route 47. Please see the below map to view the impacted area. Only the outbound side of the Del Webb Blvd will be reconstructed. This improvement project will be done in zones so the road will never be fully closed due to the construction. Following the reconstruction of the Left Turn and Center Thru lanes, the Right Turn lane will be closed for approximately two weeks with traffic exiting Route 47 utilizing the new Left Turn and Center Thru Lane pavement to access IL Route 47.

Appropriate signage will be in the area advising residents on how they can safely navigate the construction zone. We advise residents to use caution when exiting Sun City at Del Webb Blvd. and are encouraged to seek alternative routes if they wish to avoid delays when accessing Route 47 from Del Webb Blvd.
The project is anticipated to last 4 weeks and residents should expect minor delays.
Streetlight Repainting
Starting Wednesday, August 16, 2023 Village contractor, Go Painters, will begin re-painting some of the decorative streetlights in Sun City. Please click here to view a map of the streetlights selected for repainting. Over the next three years, Go Painters will clean, prepare, and repaint 877 of the Village’s 2,061 decorative streetlight poles and bases. The streetlights in Sun City are the first to be painted for this project.
Sun City's streetlight repainting project is anticipated to be completed by mid-September 2023, pending favorable weather conditions.
