A welcome from the Village President

Dear Huntley Residents,

In 2023, noticeable change has occurred within the Village. Change that has been guided by our pride in Huntley history and our excitement for the future. Downtown revitalization continued with an appreciation of what has been and what lies ahead. A few notable projects took shape in the downtown area this year. The redevelopment of the former Catty Corporation facility, now referred to as The Cornell, was completed and is home to those living in the 38 residential units on South Church Street. The building has been transformed and is now a refreshed, modernized version of the historic building which is thought to have been constructed in the early 1900’s. Also downtown, the former Fire Station #1 redevelopment on Coral Street was recently completed. The new building, now known as the Coral Street Firehouse, pays homage to the former fire station exterior appearance. D.C. Cobb’s restaurant, located on the ground floor, features fire station-inspired details and Huntley themed décor throughout. The top floors of the building are home to new residents in the 18 units on the floors above the restaurant space.

If you haven’t had the opportunity to enjoy the changes to the downtown area, now is a great time! With the addition of the two new parking lots recently completed, there are now over 560 total parking spaces in the downtown. The new parking areas, located off Woodstock Street and Church Street, added over 180 new spaces to accommodate all who enjoy our downtown offerings. While there, be sure to visit the new public park spaces located between Main Street and Coral Street, just east of Dwyer Street. The Community Courtyard and Pocket Park both include fire features and seating areas - grab a bite from your favorite Huntley establishment and enjoy it next to the fire! Don’t miss the historic murals in the Community Courtyard and community event murals along Coral Street. We look forward to seeing you this year at the many events hosted downtown, including the Farmers Market, the summer concert series and A Very Merry Huntley to name a few.  The new year promises to be a fun-filled year offering something for everyone!

The Village continues to experience steady growth and development. Activity in 2023 included ongoing residential construction in the Talamore and Cider Grove subdivisions, which will carry forward into 2024. Huntley’s newest subdivision, Fieldstone by M/I Homes, is now underway as well. This single-family home development includes 173 homes on 82 acres behind the Municipal Complex. Model homes are planned to open in the spring. We look forward to welcoming Huntley’s new residents in 2024! Business growth also continues with positive momentum. Thank you to the businesses that choose Huntley and choose to make an investment in our community. Restaurant, logistics and service businesses have opened in 2023. Construction and planning is underway for additional businesses that are looking to invest in Huntley and contribute to the local economy. We thank you for supporting our local businesses and encourage you to shop local whenever you can!

The Village Board remains committed to achieving excellence in the planning, management, and delivery of services in a reliable, efficient, fiscally, and environmentally responsible manner that enhances the quality of life for all those living, working, or conducting business in the village.

We look forward to seeing you around the Village! Enjoy the extra day in 2024 - it is a Leap Year!

Sincerely,
Village President Timothy J. Hoeft  and Board of Trustees
