Streets and Underground Utility Division
The Street Maintenance and Underground Utility Division is responsible for maintaining 132 centerline miles of streets and the corresponding right-of-way (ROW) throughout the Village. Street maintenance includes concrete curb & gutter and sidewalk repairs, pavement patching, pavement marking, and traffic control and street name sign maintenance. Underground utility responsibilities include water main break repairs, fire hydrant flushing and painting, valve exercising, and sewer maintenance. Division general services projects and programs include mowing, curbside branch pick-up, managing the mosquito abatement program, parkway tree pruning and snow & ice control.
As a member of the Joint Utility Locating Information for Excavators (J.U.L.I.E.) service, Division staff will locate and mark buried Village utilities. Call J.U.L.I.E. (811 or 800-892-0123) before you dig.
In partnership with the Village Manager's Office, Division staff also assists with coordination and set up for special events and festivals and installation of downtown banners and holiday decorations.
