Slow Down Through Neighborhoods
The weather is getting nice, and that means more people will be outside. When you drive through neighborhoods please be aware of kids playing, people riding bikes and animals outside.
The speed limit through neighborhoods is 25 mph. Residential areas are meant to be safe for all parties. According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration 87% of speeding-related fatalities occurred on non-interstate roadways, including roads through neighborhoods.
Reminders while driving through the neighborhoods:
- Always obey the posted speed limit.
- If you see people outside, give them curtesy and slow down.
- If you can’t see them, they can’t see you. Always check your blind spots.
- Be extra cautious for children while you back-up.
Let’s work together to keep our residential areas safe for everyone. If you feel there are issues in you neighborhood, please give the police a call. Don’t chase the vehicle. You can always request extra patrol if there are constant issues in the neighborhood. Try to gather as much information as possible, such and the car make and model, driver description and license plate number.
Be courteous of your neighbors - slow down and keep our neighborhoods safe.
