Premise Alert

The Premise Alert Program allows those with special needs or disabilities, or their guardians, to voluntarily provide personal information to Public Safety Agencies in the State of Illinois for emergency dissemination to police, fire, and EMS personnel.  The information provided to first responders for Huntley is stored and maintained in our secure database that is provided to first responders, via our computer aided dispatch (CAD) system, prior to their arrival.

The Premise Alert System assists Police Departments in building good community relationships, gives officers a tool to get to know the members of the community who may need additional assistance and provides them advance knowledge of the type of situation they are walking into when going to a specific address. The Premise Alert System helps residents with special needs build relationships with police departments and live safer in their chosen communities.

In addition to the Premise Alert Program, the Huntley Police Department has expanded the options, in that, families are able to provide a photo of their loved one that have the propensity of becoming disoriented and/or lost, generally due to a medical condition.  The following are some examples of various medical conditions that may increase a person's chance of getting disoriented and/or lost:

  • Alzheimer's
  • Autism
  • Dementia
  • Down Syndrome
  • Mental Illness

This voluntary program consists of a database containing names of those who may suffer from these conditions. Upon registration, you will have an opportunity to provide various pieces of information regarding your family member.  By participating in this program, in the event the family member becomes lost/found, the Huntley Police Department will be able to utilize the photo and information provided to expedite the search and the reunion process.

The Premise Alert Program has been replicated in police departments, organizations, towns and counties around the nation. Illinois has passed a law to provide the same service throughout the state.  It is our hope to see this system shared and utilized.
