Stormwater Management Program & the Purpose of  Ponds

The purpose of the ponds constructed in new subdivisions is for stormwater management. For the past ten years, more and more emphasis has been placed on “multi-objective” use of stormwater management facilities.  The days of the sterile/dry detention basin is over.  Water quality, variety of vegetation, erosion control, recreation, and wildlife habitat have all become objectives of stormwater management facilities.

When neighborhoods and subdivisions are officially accepted it is Village policy that the Detention Ponds become the property of the Village of Huntley. Private citizens are not allowed to landscape or place structures (such as benches) within village property.  If you live in an area that backs up to a Detention Pond, it is especially important for you to know all the rules and regulations related to this type of stormwater management facility.  Please click on the PDF file below to learn more about Ponds and Stormwater Management in Huntley.

WATERING RESTRICTIONS

A color-coded, three-tiered water conservation program was adopted to help residents quickly identify the status of our community water system. Signs will be posted throughout the Village displaying the color and water restriction conditions. Hand watering is permitted for watering of flowers, plants, car washing, etc.

Huntley Street Conditions

In 2008, the Village Board approved an Engineering Services Agreement with Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Ltd. to update the Village’s Pavement Management Program.  The scope of the study included a review of the existing pavement management program, updating the Village’s street inventory, field data collection including pavement cores, assigning a pavement Condition Rating to each street, and a final report of a recommended long-term pavement management plan.

The following maps are utilized for planning future street programs.  Annual updates are recommended to verify pavement condition ratings for prioritization of annual street improvements.
