Congratulations to Officer Justin Harper on being recognized as the 2010 Kane County Officer of the year. The award recognizes acts of community service, heroism and bravery.
Officer Harper was nominated by Chief John Perkins for going beyond what is expected when he was dispatched to a residence to check the well being of a female subject. Officer Harper went to the home and found the residence secure. After taking into consideration the great concern the complainant had for the subject and talking with the neighbors Officer Harper continued to investigate. Officer Harper found the back door unlocked and entered the residence. Once inside Officer Harper heard a car running inside the garage. Officer Harper found the woman lying unresponsive on the garage floor with the car running. Officer Harper immediately opened the garage door, moved the woman outside and administered CPR. After a short time the woman was breathing on her own. If he did not do that there definitely would have been a loss of life.
Officer Harper represented the Huntley Police Department in a positive manner and upheld our value statement by providing professional service while treating people with respect and compassion.
